GEFITINIB


Name: gefitinib
Commercial name: Iressa
Pharmacologic class: Epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor
Therapeutic class: Antineoplastic
Action: unclear. Inhibits tyrosine kinase action, which inhibits cell growth and reproduction. May also inhibit angiogenesis in tumor cells.

Gefitinib approved (2011):
            - for treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after failure of platinum-based and docetaxel chemotherapy

Classe thérapeutique : antinéoplasiques
Action : imprécise. Le gefitinib inhibe l’action de tyrosine kinase de l’EGFR , ce qui inhibe la croissance et la multiplication cellulaires. L’angiogenèse peut aussi être inhibée.

En 2011, le gefitinib est approuvé :
            - pour le traitement de patients ayant un cancer du poumon non à petites cellules (CBNPC) localement avancé ou métastatique, après l'échec d’une chimiothérapie basée sur les composés au platine et au docétaxel.
