DOXORUBICIN

Commercial name: Doxil, Dox-SL, Evacet, LipoDox

Pharmacological class: anthracycline antitumor antibiotic

Therapeutic class: antineoplastic

Action: The mechanism of action of doxorubicin HCl is thought to be related to its ability to bind DNA and inhibit nucleic acid synthesis.

In 2011, doxorubicin HCl liposome is approved:

           

            ● for use in combination with bortezomib in patients with multiple myeloma who have not previously received bortezomib and have received at least one prior therapy.
