OXALIPLATIN

Name: oxaliplatin

Commercial name: Eloxatin

Pharmacological class: alkylating agent

Therapeutic class: antineoplastic

Action: the cytotoxicity of oxaliplatin is believed to occur as a result of cross-link formation between complementary DNA strands. This ultimately results in DNA damage and apoptosis

In 2011, oxaliplatin is approved:

            ● to be used together with other drugs as adjuvant treatment for stage III colon cancer in patients who have had surgery to remove the cancer;

            ● to be used with other drugs to treat colorectal cancer that has advanced or recurred after earlier chemotherapy.

            ●pour une utilisation avec d'autres médicaments comme traitement adjuvant du cancer du côlon de stade III chez les patients ayant subi une chirurgie pour extraire la tumeur ;

            ●pour une utilisation avec d'autres médicaments pour traiter le cancer colorectal qui avancé ou en récidive après une chimiothérapie antérieure.
